Nourish Yourself Like You Matter 🪷🧘🏻‍♀️

You are worth it! You are beautiful!

Hey Reader,

February reminds us to show love, and that includes how we nourish ourselves. Eating well isn't about restriction or earning your meals through exercise. It's about feeding yourself like someone you actually care about—because you do matter.

FROM THE BLOG

You matter. Your well-being matters. You deserve to feel good.

Let's talk about the least glamorous forms of self-love: eating well and drinking water. Before you roll your eyes, hear me out—how you nourish and hydrate your body says everything about whether you believe you're worthy of care. This week we're exploring food and hydration as acts of self-love, not punishment. We're looking at the real benefits (science-backed, promise) and why treating your body like it belongs to someone you love is one of the most radical things you can do. Spoiler: you don't have to earn the right to feel good.

WHAT'S FUELING ME

Things keeping me curious, inspired, and learning:

📚 Currently reading: The Menopause Brain by Dr. Lisa Mosconi In The Menopause Brain, neuroscientist Dr. Lisa Mosconi reveals that the hormonal transition of menopause is actually a profound brain event, with declining estrogen affecting everything from memory and mood to body temperature and research shows that women in midlife already display early warning signs for Alzheimer's disease in their brains. Women are nearly twice as likely as men to develop Alzheimer's disease—with about two-thirds of all cases occurring in women according to the Harvard Health Alzheimer's Association—though this increased risk stems partly from women's longer lifespans and potentially from their stronger immune systems. Dr. Mosconi emphasizes that women can take action to protect their brains through cardiovascular fitness, resistance training, a Mediterranean-style diet rich in plants and healthy fats, and other lifestyle choices that significantly reduce dementia risk.

👂Listening to: Menopause is Shrinking your Brain with Dr. Lisa Mosconi We do have agency over our brain health. This podcast is frightening and enlightening at the same time. Ladies, stop ignoring and let's get to work.

✨ Discovery of the week: Your gut produces about 90% of your body's serotonin—the neurotransmitter that regulates mood, sleep, and appetite. When you nourish your body with diverse, nutrient-dense foods, you're literally feeding the gut bacteria that support your mental health. The gut-brain connection is real: what you eat doesn't just affect your physical health, it directly influences your mood, energy, and emotional wellbeing. That's self-love from the inside out.

In good health,

Jamie
